Offering local high school students aviation scholarships since 2014.

In 2013, discussions began in hopes of creating an aviation scholarship program for local youth. Recent aviation studies indicate a growing pilot shortage between now and 2030. Aviation is our country’s greatest asset; provides $1.3 trillion to the national economy in airline industry alone; 5.2% of U.S. Gross Domestic Product; and supports well over 1 million jobs. To continue this trend, it is essential that we provide programs that bring young people into the U.S. pilot corps.

In mid 2014, the Williamsburg Aviation Scholarship Program (WASP) was incorporated in Virginia as a 501c(3) tax exempt organization. The purpose of WASP is to create career opportunities in aviation, help build and sustain local aviation, and support national programs designed to mitigate projected pilot shortages. Through the volunteer efforts of retired military aviators, as well as active commercial and recreational pilots, WASP is able to offer local high school teens the highest level of expertise and instruction in aviation. From retired F-22 and F-16 pilots to current legacy airline pilots, the level of instruction is unrivaled.

This valuable and important program is completely reliant on donations. We urge you to contribute and participate in enabling kids to earn their pilots' licenses and strengthen their aviation roots.
