Charley Rogers
Charles A. (Charley) Rogers was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and grew up there until he joined the US Navy in 1967. He served five years in the Navy as a Yeoman Second Class (YN2) and served as an administrative assistant. He left the Navy in 1972 and returned to the Peninsula where he began a 35-year career as a life insurance agent. In 2005, Charley met Larry Waltrip, the airport owner, while having lunch at the airport restaurant, and began working at the airport and has served the Waltrip Williamsburg Executive Airport for over 21 years as a fuel handler, conducting administrative duties, and any day to day requirements of the airport. Charley has served as an active Board member of the Williamsburg Aviation Scholarship Program since its beginning in 2013 and served as the Board’s Secretary from 2013-2021.
