    Our Mission

The purpose of WASP is to create career opportunities in aviation, help build and sustain local aviation, and support national programs designed to mitigate projected pilot shortages. Through the volunteer efforts of retired military aviators, as well as active commercial and recreational pilots, WASP is able to offer local high school teens the highest level of expertise and instruction in aviation. From retired F-22 and F-16 pilots to current legacy airline pilots, the level of instruction is unrivaled.

    About this Event

The Williamsburg Aviation Scholarship Program relies on the donations of citizens, both local and nationwide, to fund the academic and flying instruction necessary for each student to receive a pilot's license. Each scholarship is valued at over $11,000. Without altruistic charitable contributions from people like YOU, this program would cease to exist. This is the inaugural gala for WASP! Our hope is that we raise enough money at this event to fund all of the students in our upcoming class. Just as important, however, is our hope that like-minded citizens who are interested in aviation and concerned about the upcoming pilot shortage can join together for a night of celebration and fun.

    Guest Speaker

Christina Olds, author and daughter of legendary fighter pilot, Robin Olds.

Christina Olds was born in Manhattan, NYC on January 5, 1952 and bounced around the world with her USAF fighter pilot father Robin Olds and Hollywood actress mother Ella Raines. Raised mostly in Washington D.C., England and Colorado, she graduated from Vassar College with a BA in English/Creative Writing in 1974 and spent 25 years living in San Francisco where she raised her daughter Jennifer Olds Newman. While caring for her father during his terminal illness, Christina promised to complete his unfinished memoirs from his gathered notes. Robin Olds passed away June 14, 2007. FIGHTER PILOT; THE MEMOIRS OF LEGENDARY ACE ROBIN OLDS was published April 13, 2010 by St. Martin's Press. Christina currently lives near Vail, Colorado. This is her first book.
